The Exercise Ball Chair…Where Is the 15 Minute Video?

The first time I saw the exercise ball chair I went looking for a bullet point in the site that indicated it came with a 15 or 30 minute exercise video.

It took me a full minute to realize there wasn’t any.  After that light bulb moment I said to myself “They are not kidding are they?” It really is an exercise ball office chair that you did not use for exercising.  It was intended to be a chair that one could use when we type or work at our desk. Still because I’ve seen too many exercise videos using a great big ball to just set that idea aside, my head was still grappling with the thought…okay will it make my abs smaller?

At the end of that episode I had to accept that the exercise ball chair is not, for this particular situation manufactured to be exercise equipment. It was made as a chair because of the fundamental need for a better office chair. The fact is an employee in an office will probably spend at least 5 hours a day working on a computer, writing on a desk or attending meetings. In all these activities the employees’ trusted partner is the office chair.  It would probably be safe to assume that if a person would spend that much time with something, someone would have thought to design a chair that could see to the user’s comfort, was healthier for the body and because it is an office chair contribute to an employee’s productivity in directly. Sadly, for the longest time no one did. At least not all the qualifications we mentioned. And year after year office workers complained about back pain, proper posture and spinal issues.

Enter the exercise ball revolution. The main advantage of this kind of exercise technique and exercise equipment is the strengthening of one’s core muscles. An adjunct advantage to the practice of this kind of exercise is the lessening of back pain, posture improvement and spinal health.  And because the facts and the physics of it fit so well together the exercise ball office chair was born. As we have seen during all the exercise segments on television, the ball when being used in exercise trains the body to strengthen its core muscles. Strengthening core muscles relieve the back muscles of the strain and stress it experiences on a daily basis. This in effect lessens back pains. Bad posture is also a universal cause of back and spinal pain. The unique way an exercise ball office chair guides the individual toward proper posture solves another back/spinal challenge. It may not make your waist or abs smaller. It will however help improve the office chair experience for the better.
